Babies
I have an imagery wagon that I pull behind me. In this wagon I carry all my past baggage. So why is it that
I'm telling you this? Well sometimes a man can teach you something because he was successful. Other times,
a man can look into his wagon and teach something from a time where things didn't happen the way they should.
You see not much is learned when things go smooth, but there is much to be learned from adversity or poor
decisions. Yes, that is what I call tuition paid. And tuition paid is what gives me the expertise to teach
you the following lesson. Open your Bible with me to:
Deuteronomy 11
18 Fix these words of mine in your hearts and minds; tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads. 19 Teach them to your children, talking about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up.
Have you ever thought about how a parent is hardwired to love a new baby? We love them even before they are born. As soon as we know that we have one on the way we start to prepare for the child's safety. The doctor visits, the vitamins, making sure the child will have clothing and blankets to keep warm on arrival.
Then the baby gets here and you see your baby's face for the first time and the love really surges. In fact, the love is euphoric. You hold them and cuddle. The love you have cannot be explained, it is in our DNA, we are hardwired to love our babies.
You see kids change you. From the moment they are born you will begin to look at life differently. This is difficult to conceptualize until that blessed moment comes. And with the passage of time and the gift of God's wisdom you will realize what I'm telling you is true. As I said, the instantaneous love you have for your offspring cannot be explained, it is in our DNA, we are hardwired to love our babies.
My thought, we are hardwired to protect the physical body of this baby, but we are not hardwired to protect the soul of this baby. None of us come out of a hospital delivery room pre-programmed to protect our soul or our children's souls. You see the protection of the soul falls in the column of free will.
So God, our Creator, designing us with free will, put in our midst prophets, His Son and the Apostles to document for us His Word. He is the only Father that knows from the very beginning that man has a soul and we are all his babies. His Word is in a book called the Bible and this Word is saying: I, your Creator, your Father in heaven, want to have a relationship with you. I give you My Words and My instruction to save your soul.
God's message: I sent My Son to earth to live in your predicament. He was sacrificed that your soul might have eternal life with Me, the Father, in heaven. He defeated death and rose from the dead after three days. Now my Son sits at my right hand.
Now if this Word was hardwired into us we would be equally as busy in preparation to ensure the safety of the baby's soul. We would automatically teach this child to be in awe of his Creator. We would teach our babies His Word and how to walk in His ways. In this way we could help our babies on a path to keep their souls safe.
But the truth of the matter is, our vision only works on the physical spectrum and our vision is blind to the spiritual soul that every person has. So when we look at this newborn we do not see a soul, we just see a new life. They are so cute, they look just like cherubs. And that physical vision is far as our God given eyes can take us. The rest is from His Word.
So who among you now having knowledge would not protect your baby's soul from death? If you are a father or a mother get busy, make it priority to be an example to your children in worship to God.
Who among you in courtship age would not want to protect your future generation's souls?
Now it comes to mind, in order to teach children, one must be walking with God. In order to protect the baby's soul, the father and mother must be saved. Who among you, who are just now being informed, wants to miss heaven? The soul is the ante in this game of life and you are all in.
It all starts with believing that God sent his Son to live with us, believing in Jesus. Next, the commitment to change your life, this is repentance. Then the desire to be buried in water and to be born again as you rise up from the water, a new person, and the old person left behind. Start today, the water is ready. He is calling you, not me.
